Bank Relays

Banks, company accounts and secure transfers

Companies pay contractors, settle invoices and buy equipment with real in-game bank balances. Most payments are small. An occasional larger settlement can make an investigation worthwhile, but a receipt never guarantees that the money is still there.

Follow the payment

A bank server’s log shows a transfer reference, the amount, masked account numbers and a secure relay address. Each bank uses several relays. Connect to the relay and obtain permission to read its server.log to see the complete account numbers and bank addresses for that part of the traffic.

Relay logs do not contain account passwords. Crack the account at its bank, or look for a carelessly saved handover on a company server. Some local payment notes contain credentials; many contain only a bank reference. Your own transfer receipts retain the full details.

A limited window

After a player cracks a relay’s server password, it moves to a new address with a new password three hours later. Another crack does not extend that window. Old relay logs and connections disappear. Downloaded notes remain useful as historical evidence, but their addresses and credentials may become outdated.

Each relay keeps only a small, recent slice of payment traffic. Fresh transfers leave new relay addresses in the bank logs. Discovering one relay does not reveal every account at the bank.
